the company performs in Handel Week

Winifred Haun & Dancers will perform as part of Oak Park’s 10th annual Handel Week on Saturday, February 21 at Grace Church in Oak Park. The Company will present an original work choreographed by Winifred Haun to Handel’s “Water Music.” Using over 50 yards of dyed silk fabric, the dancers will perform in and around the unique space of Grace Church to one of Handel’s most beloved compositions.

Winifred Haun & Dancers was commissioned to create and perform a new work to “Water Music” by Handel Week’s artistic director and founder, Dennis Northway. Handel Week is the only organization in the Chicago area dedicated to George Frideric Handel (1685-1759) and was conceived a decade ago by its founders as the western suburbs’ answer to the highly successful Bach Week Festival in Evanston.

Winifred Haun & Dancers can be seen as part of Handel Week on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 7:30pm at Grace Episcopal Church, 924 Lake St., in Oak Park. Free parking is available in the lot next to Grace Church. Grace Church is near the Oak Park Ave stop on the CTA green line. Individual tickets are $30. Young people ages 8 to 18 are admitted free of charge.
