Winifred Haun premieres new work spring 2007

Winifred Haun will premiere a new dance, “3 plus 1” as part of the second annual Circle in the Square: New Works in Dance Theatre March 23 thru 25 at Glade Memorial Hall in Chicago.

“3 plus 1” is a trio danced on and around aerial straps. Set to the music of George Crumb, Ms. Haun’s new work is an abstract dance made especially for Denise Baker, Melissa Bartz and Carolyn Gaffke.

Ms. Haun will also present “Remake,” a quartet for four women set to the music of Anton Webern. Originally premiered in 1993, “Remake” has been restaged for the dancers of Chicago Ballet.

“3 plus 1” and “Remake” can both be seen as part of Circle in the Square: New Works in Dance Theatre on Friday and Saturday, March 23 and 24, 2007 at 7:30pm and Sunday, March 25 at 3:00pm. Tickets are $15, general admission, and $10, students and seniors. A special Preview will be presented on Saturday, March 3 at 3:00pm. Other artists presenting work on the program are: Christopher Ellis, Jyl Fehrenkamp, Dawn Marie Galtieri, and Jill Heyser. All events will be presented at Glade Memorial Hall, 2640 W. Winifred Haun premieres new solo in Oak Park

Winifred Haun & Dancers will premiere a new dance October 20 thru 22 at Historic Pleasant Home in Oak Park as part of Circle in the Square: New Works in Dance Theatre. The new solo, “Interim” is choreographed and danced by Winifred Haun.

“Interim” has been created especially for the tandem sitting room adjacent to the dining room at Pleasant Home. The sitting room creates a small procensium style space that Ms. Haun will perform in. “Interim” is performed to the music of George Crumb.

Winifred Haun will also dance in Dawn Marie Galtieri’s “Woman With(out) Child.”
“Woman With(out) Child” is a solo dance that explores pregnancy loss. Ms. Galtieri’s dance has been re-staged for the library at Pleasant Home and features an original sound design by Clarence Fraher.

“Interim” and “Woman With(out) Child” can be seen as part of Circle in the Square: New Works in Dance Theatre on Friday and Saturday, October 20 and 21, 2006 at 7:30pm and Sunday, October 22 at 3:00pm at Pleasant Home mansion, 217 S.
